Not-job-having is starting to be a drag again. I'm really enjoying the free time and all the reading, but at some point, I'd like to start some variety of a career - and two separate blog posts from people who I know to be in the same hunt (for entry-level writing jobs) have not given me a lot of hope (granted, they are both in NYC, where I think it might be a physical impossibility to get a EA or similar job, as opposite to highly unlikely here). One is a Columbia MS journalism grad, which really doesn't feel good, considering my whole plan was "grad school to the rescue!" after this or next year.

The deafening silence in response to my many many queries is not helpful.

Eureka is on tonight, for all those who love that silly and pretty awesome show. I like any television that decides a sing-a-long is a good idea for a marketing campaign, and pulls it off. Props, y'all.

[livejournal.com profile] daygloparker, etc. I know, I know, but I cannot bring myself to find and watch Middleman. Maybe one day.

I could probably do a song and dance about how much The Middleman is in the vein of Eureka, but I won't, 'cause I'm tired, and feeling a little down about last night's episode. So - one day, you will watch it, you will love it, and I will sit back and say, "TOLD YA."

I'm comfortable with that.

As I was writing about Eureka, Middleman did immediately come to mind because I imagine it to be in the same vein.

This gonna be like Bones, where I have to come, tail between my legs, back to the internet, because I have been proven Wrong. I am exhausted about NEW THINGS already.

I feel as though there should be a community for well-educated people unable to find a good job but I think it'd be a really depressing community. Unless it was livened up with booze.

As you read from my next entry, i tried to liven it up with booze, but got waylaid by my birth religion TAKING OVER THE BAR.

But yes, the amount of people who I have heard speak about their UTTER frustration at the job market is way beyond non-trival at this point.

That was amusing. Just like the Spanish Inquisition, no one expects prayer in a bar. Although I could maybe understand if they were blessing the beer.

No kidding. Although then I learn of people finding jobs right away and it makes me worry that I'm doing something wrong. Or that I'm stupid.
