I'm having re-organizing mind kind of day. Let me explain.
It's been about a week since I started my (scattershot) campaign of reading more deeply into news (er, I want to be a grad student in journalism? It's probably a good idea - also, Columbia has a news quiz that is PRETTY HARD) Here's the thing - I am figuring out how to read the news, and for someone who had a lot of pride in her critical reading skills beforehand, I am SHAMED.
I.e. Yesterday, one of the NYT headlines is: "Obama Asks Bush to Provide Help for Automakers".
The conversation in question is the hour-ish conversation Bush and Obama had in the Oval Office on Monday, where supposedly no reporters, note-takers or anybody who hadn't been elected to the Presidency were allowed to be. People familiar with the discussion are who(m)? Obama staffers? (Drudge says so, and also includes a snarky quote from "a WH official". ). Current chief of staff Josh Bolton?
I think, a week ago, I would have scanned over the source of the information entirely.
ETA: GERARD! From feature writing class! Reporting! (video) ALSO, the main CNN anchor is SUCH A TOOL BAG.

"Bush indicated at the meeting that he might support some aid and a broader economic stimulus package if Mr. Obama and Congressional Democrats dropped their opposition to a free-trade agreement with Colombia, a measure for which Mr. Bush has long fought, people familiar with the discussion said." (emphasis mine)
