why should I always see, someone just like me

Okay. So everytime I look at a calendar, or I'm talking about moving, I start crying. I'm mourning, yes, but I also I need to actually move, which the crying is not helping.

Neither are my parents, who have just decided to cancel the Uhaul and come two weekends in a row to make two trips with the SUV. So frustration everywhere.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to make the most of last few weeks here:

Thursday:

(This conversation had on Gchat)
Boyfriend: You want to do something tonight?
Me: Sure, dinner - or I don't know, I can't think of anything
Boyfriend: Our friendly city lights editor (his friend is the entertainment listings editor for Washington City Paper, the alt-weekly) says see a band at Rock and Roll Hotel tonight. You want to go?
Me: If Riggs says so, how can we say no?
Boyfriend: ... Are you making fun of me?
Me: No, I actually want to go.
Boyfriend: Oh! excellent.

So we saw three acts, one folk duo that was pretty forgetable, a really lame Coldplay rip off who didn't know they were a Coldplay rip off and the absolutely wonderful Elizabeth and the Catapult. I bought the CD on iTunes the next morning. I also might have told Boyfriend multiple times: "If I made music, this is the kind of music I would make."

Friday:
I was pretty useless during the day, but then I met up with Boyfriend and I thought A-train (who completely flaked out), to the Friday Jazz at the Sculpture Garden. Then we invited Fiona over and met up with K-Mo, FJF and McKay of Journalism at the new house to eat dinner.

There was a shuffle of places where every one ended up, but Boyfriend and Fiona and I went to Red Derby, which unlike the part of Columbia Heights where boyfriend lives that is situationally sketchy, was in an actually sketchy area. We saw a drug bust on our way there.

But wow, what a hipster bar. We walk in and Dune was playing on the wall. Then we played two games of scrabble. For your edification:

(yes, that says "Rahm" up in the left hand corner. That was mine)

Saturday:

Seriously, I slept, and then grilled and had smores. Also, sent my security deposit check to NYC. Financially and legal committed, eek!

Sunday:
Ben's Chili Bowl, with detour to Cardozo High School for the view:

I think I'm sad too because this is basically the calmest, loveliest part of my life in DC, and I'm voluntarily leaving. I have to keep reminding myself that I like taking chances. I just never thought I'd be leaving behind a lot of people and be in a sixth month relationship.
