fizzawrites: (life: dani rockstar)
To complete my transition into Ultimate DC Tool-dom, I commuted on the red line to Farragut North, wore sandals to the office and then changed into heels, Gchatted with a couple of friends, went to lunch at Breadline with my friend who works for a think tank and talked politics, and then booked it out of there at 3. (3 is actually the end of my official hours, as I'm part time).

New Acquisitions from the public library:

Imposture - Benjamin Markovits
The Poisonwood Bible - Barbara Kingsolver (attempt #2)
The World According to Garp - John Irving (I wasn't crazy about Cider House Rules, but I hold out hope)
All the Sad Young Literary Men - Keith Gessen (reminded me of [livejournal.com profile] notpoetry's "Sad White People" trope)
The King's Gold - Yxta Maya Murray (blurb sounds like National Treasure)
Rome 1960 - David Maraniss

I'm already exhausted by work, or more accurately, the regularity of full days. I'll try to keep work-stuff to a anecdotal minimum here because they are both temporary (but not temping), and truly not even of much interest to me.

Today's anecdote: the fleeting thrill of finding Bill Clinton's work phone in the organizational database, deadened by hours of c&p-ing contact info.

Be back later tonight with Life 2x01 thoughts. Saw it last night, but then fell asleep on my laptop. Classy :)
