From a job description I just read:

Receives visitors, answers phones, and provides information related to Project activities; prepares a variety of forms, correspondence, and reports on a PC and typewriter.

Wha? Typewriter? Does this job involve time travel? If so, sign me up

I had to use a type writer at this job and when I was in grad school and worked in the history department. Only the type writer was kind of fancy and computerized and the only type writer I ever used was our ancient electronic one so I can use a really old type writer and a computer but the new type writers are beyond my capabilities. It's kind of sad.

If it's a job that deals with some gub'ment offices, there are certain forms you'll have to fill out on a typewriter because those offices aren't advanced enough to understand how to, you know, purchase and use Adobe.

We have exactly one typewriter in our office for these forms.

Actually, now that I think about it, I remember someone using a typewriter once at my old job. I was weirded out then too.

See, I love the aesthetic of the old typewriter, but the idea of working on one is terrifying to my backspacing/ctrl-x-c-v happy self.
